Thereโ€™s nothing better than eating at a hotpot restaurant on a rainy day. While I would love to settle for Hai Di Lao or Beauty In The Pot, my bank account, unfortunately, shouts a big resounding no. This is why I always look out for affordable hotpot buffets in Singapore that come with cool sides such as unlimited xiao long bao. New on my radar is this steamboat restaurant at Chinatown, Frog Meat Fish Head, which serves free-flow bubble tea!

The restaurant is currently having a promo for their lunch buffet where you only need to pay $19.80+โ€”instead of $23.80+โ€”making this really value for money. This promotion will run until 31 November 2019.ย

When youโ€™re there, it is a must to order their speciality: Mala fish head with frog leg soup, where chillies and peppercorns are first stir-fried to coax out the spices before turning into a soup base. This traditional Sichuan soup comes teeming with tender frog legs and fish meat. Other soups include the usual pork bone- and tomato-based soups.

While they have the usual hotpot ingredients of pork belly, fish ball and veggies to cook in your soup, it is their bubble tea station that makes the restaurant stand out. DIY your own milk tea by filling up your cup with treacly boba, before pouring in milk tea from the drink dispenser. Aside from BBT and hotpot grub, they also have a wide range of traditional desserts to end off your meal.

If you enjoy their soup base, then you will be glad to know that they also sell their hotpot soup base for you to bring home. They are all freshly packed upon order and you can even adjust the spice level! It is a little pricey though, and a single pack will set you back $15.50, while two packets go at $19.90.ย
