Synthesis has TCM-inspired ice cream at Suntec City
In recent times, we’ve seen various spins on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) by F&B brands, including LULI at Marina Square with its herbal bubble tea and My Awesome Cafe, set in an old TCM hospital. The latest to jump on the bandwagon is Synthesis restaurant at Suntec City, which is now offering TCM-inspired ice cream!

The ice cream can be purchased outside the restaurant, which is strikingly on-theme—its walls are lined with medicinal ingredients and Chinese ornaments. There are also various herbs littered across the counter, such as ginseng, ling zhi and more.
The ice cream flavours here are split into two tiers: Classic ($6) and Premium ($7). Two cups of the former come in a special deal at $10, while two cups of the latter will set you back just $12.
During our visit, the only Classic flavour left was Soy Wheatgrass ($6). The presence of wheatgrass here gave the ice cream a strong, earthy flavour, which was admittedly strange-tasting on the first bite, but we can see some people enjoying it.
The Red Date Longan ($7), one of the Premium flavours, almost tastes like a drink your grandmother would make for your nourishment. Like the previous flavour, this one takes some getting used to, but those who enjoy their fruity flavours will love it.
Another premium flavour is the Wintermelon ($7), which is somewhat reminiscent of wintermelon candy—albeit a much creamier ice cream version. It is quite the refreshing treat, with a subtle sweetness that just works on a hot day.
Do note that the seasonal flavours will be swapped out from time to time, and are subject to availability. Either way, you can expect a rotating lineup of interesting TCM-inspired ice cream flavours to try here.
